Research. Mechanical Transmission Test systems

AM TESTING carries out research activity primarily in the mechanical transmission area. Thanks to an agreement with Pisa University and Avio SpA we run high performance test systems. In this section a brief description of these systems is shown.

 



"Renk" test rig: it allow the testing of spur meeting gears with a 1 to 1 transmission ratio. With a maximum rotational speed of 18000 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm the test rig consent to run tests under test conditions very similar to working conditions of gear in use in the aeronautical applications. The test rig has been conceded in use to AM TESTING by Avio SpA.
 
 

"Journal Bearing" test rig: it allows the testing of journal bearings. Functionality, durability and sizing tests can be carried out. With a maximum speed of 27000 rpm and a maximum radial load of 50 kN the test rig can run tests under test conditions very similar to working conditions of gear in use in the aeronautical applications. The test rig has been conceded in use to AM TESTING by Avio SpA.
 
 

"DU 91.5" test rig: it allow the testing of two helicoids gear sets of several gear transmission ratios. With a maximum speed of 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 1500 Nm the test rig can run tests under test conditions very similar to working conditions of gear in use in the automotive applications. The test rig is being buying from the DESIGN UNIT.
 
 

"Worm Rig" test rig: it allows the testing of a worm-wheel gear set. These type of gear sets are widely used in the industry. With a maximum speed of 1500 rpm and a maximum torque of 3000 Nm the test system allows the evaluation of the effect on the gear-box performances (e.g. gear-box efficiency) of parameters such as: gear alignment, rotational speed and gear lubrication type.
 
 

"TDM" test rig: it allows the testing of discs. By using this test rig it is possible to replicate the contact conditions between teeth of mating gears (i.e. contact pressure, sliding speed, revolving speed, surface roughness etc.). With a maximum contact pressure of 3,5 GPa and a rotational speed of 12000 rpm the test rig allows to run similitude tests on discs as an alternative of tests on gear. Disc test samples are less costly than gear test samples. The test rig is being assembled.
