JN-01: Scuffing tests for the experimental validation of scuffing risk prediction tools.
To carry out an experimental test campaign on gears for the evaluation of the effect on the "scuffing" (a surface damaging phenomenon) strength of parameters such as: pressure angle, surface roughness, material type, rotational speed etc.



JN-03: Torsion dynamic modeling of a marine power-train system.
To develop a computer software for rotational dynamic behavior prediction of medium size boats complete marine driveline system. The aim of the project is to develop a simple simulation tool that would be used by ZF Marine Arco SpA, in the driveline design and development process, in order to rapidly evaluate the system rotational dynamic behaviour.



JN-04: Experimental measurement of dynamic performances of damping torsion couplings.
Experimental measurement of the torsion behavior for several types of elastic couplings for mechanical transmissions. In order to load the couplings with a fixed amplitude torque and at a fixed frequency a bespoke test rig has been designed and manufactured.



JN-07: Design of a test rig for the shaping of Nomex® channel elements. To design a test rig for the experimental study of the main forming parameters for Nomex® material.
This project is part of a wider research project for the design and manufacturing of a prototype production machine of Nomex® channels. The Nomex® channels are used to isolate elements within large size electric generator. For this application the most important material properties is the electrical isolation capacity (KV/mm).span>



JN-08: Manufacture of a rotating torque actuator.
Manufacture of a torque actuator for a rotating shaft. The system has to allow the twist of a shaft rotating up to 6000 rpm and up to a maximum torque of 8000 Nm. The system has to be able to allow slowly torque increase by the control of the actuator oil inlet pressure. The torque actuator has been realized for the DESING UNIT and based on DESING UNIT design.

JN-10: Data acquisition and control system for the DESIGN UNIT "DU_160_China" test rig.
To design and manufacture a Data Acquisition and Control (DAQ & C) system for a test rig designed and manufactured by the DESING UNIT. The DAQ & C system has to allow the control and the safe operation of the test rig by a solo operator. A user-friendly, PC and Windows® based, Graphical User Interface (GUI) is also required.



JN-12: Twin Disc test rig.
To design and manufacture a Twin Disc Machine (TDM) in order to run material surface damaging tests. The TDM test rig has to be able to simulate the contact meshing conditions of meeting gear teeth of aeronautical gear sets.



JN-13: Software tool for the design of multi-shape dies for suspension elements.
To develop a computer software tool for the preliminary design of multi-shape molds for automotive suspension components. The work has been carried out within a large research project carried out by the Department of Mechanical, Nuclear and Production Engineering (DIMNP) of Pisa University for a well known company in the hot-molding of plastic materials. The research project final goal is the automation of the first dies design steps in order to reduce the time needed for making dies drawing for cost estimation.



Acoustic emission measurement for a single-head multi-drill wood drilling machine.
Experimental measurement and analysis of the acoustic emissions of a wood drilling machine in order to: evaluate the machine noise performances, identify the noise sources and consequently suggest improvement actions. Acoustic pressure measurements have been carried out in several machine working conditions and in the operator position and at several positions around the machine.



JN-17: Load analysis for a polypropylene copolymer stepladder.
Stress analysis of a stepladder made by recycled polypropylene copolymer in order to highlight critical strength points and therefore guide the ongoing design process.



JN-18: Finite Element (FEM) and UNI standard analysis of a plastic made supermarket trolley.
FEM modelling and stress analysis for the evaluation of the compliance of a supermarket trolley design to the standard UNI EN 1929.



JN-19: Static load analysis of a balcony fence.
Finite Element (FEM) evaluation of the mechanical strength of a steel fence; comparison of several designs.



JN-20: Test and calibration of velocimeters.
Functional tests of two velocimeters type IRD VIBRATION PICKUP P/N 8620 (MODEL 5445), in the frequency range [12÷150] Hz.



JN-21÷JN27: Development and experimental validation of surface wear and fatigue (scuffing, pitting, micro-pitting) prediction models.
Design, development and validation of prediction models of gear wear and surface fatigue.



JN-30: Traction load measurement on the columns of a 4000 tons mechanical press machine.
On site measurement of the columns traction load for a 4000 tons water press machine during normal working operations.
